Food hampers for 100+ Rangers in the Lower Zambezi Valley.
More than 25+ tons of pre-packed food hampers comprising a box of dry foodstuffs +10kg mealie meal (total of 33kg each) have been delivered to 100+ Rangers in the Lower Zambezi Valley for the last 12 months 2020-2021. This intervention has brought about a significant level of relief to Rangers living and remaining operational during the fall-out from COVID pandemic which has negatively impacted livelihoods, and where the loss of tourism has had a devastating effect on revenue streams, and therefore the integrity of our precious wildlife protected areas.
www.wildliferangerchallenge 2020 and its fundraising successes have provided this truly meaningful intervention.
Rangers’ concerns about how to feed their families have been significantly addressed through the food hampers provision, as well as the fact that the nearest towns are between 4-6 hours away by vehicle.
The linkages between Ranger well-being and patrol efficacy are highlighted.
We ask and trust that caring donors will proactively respond to this call for ongoing funding.
